'Sydney is a town coming down from its trip' is a video sculpture combining kangaroo fur, a latex koala mask, psychedelic visuals, TV and DVD player. The work draws a parallel between a koala under the influence of a natural narcotic and the Sydneysider’s search of a refuge from the urban landscape through drug consumption and excess. An example of which is recorded in the book ‘the Fatal shore’ describing the drunken orgy, which celebrated the first Australia day at farm cove in 1788.
